Unilag authorities withdrew the merit admission list because of alleged irregularities.
The University’s Deputy Registrar, Information, Mr. Oluwatoyin Adebule reportedly said that the University management withdrew the list to investigate the veracity of the allegation of irregularities levelled against it. He added that failure to investigate it properly could tarnish the image of the University.
Dr Taiwo Ojapinwa who is a lecturer in the institution said that he heard about the withdrawal of the list but he could not confirm how true it was.
Ojapinwa said, “I heard so but I can not confirm that. The only thing I am sure of is that I was told that may be a lot of people were unable to submit their O level and as a result, they wanted to shut those people out, maybe the management now says they should give everybody fair hearing and allow them to know.
“But whether they have withdrawn the admission list, I can’t really confirm, because when I was driving to school, a prospective student whose name is on the first list called me that she heard it has been cancelled, but I told her I can’t confirm the statement”.
Some of the irregularities was that some aspirants had scores that are far above the Cut-off marks and their names were still missing on the admission list. Therefore,Some parents are said to have gone to court to sue the University over alleged irregularities in the merit admission list released in October.
