Ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, on Friday became one of the pioneer students from the Department of Religious Studies, Faculty of Arts of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Abeokuta Study Centre, Ogun State.of the National Open University to bag a PhD in Christian Theology.
A six-man external panelpronounced him worthy of the award and competent for the award after about 163 minutes defence of his voluminous thesis.
The defense was reportedly held inside the auditorium of the Abeokuta Study Centre of the institution along IBB Boulevard, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The panel expressed satisfaction with the about 250-page thesis of the former President, whose matriculation number was NOU 146058901.
Obasanjo’s PhD Thesis titled: “Resolving the Unfinished Agenda in Liberation Theology: Leadership, Poverty and Underdevelopment in North Eastern Nigeria.” was submitted to his department as part of the requirements for the award of a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Christian Theology.
