The Head of Nigeria National Office of WAEC, Mr Olu I. Adenipekun, announced the release of the results yesterday in Katsina at a press conference held at the Katsina Motel Conference Hall.He stated that 135,945 candidates registered for the examination out of which 133,223 sat for the examination.Adenipekun disclosed that 135, 945 candidates registered for the examination out of which he said 133, 223 candidates sat for the examinations.
He said that out of the total number that sat for the examinations, 98.70 per cent have their results fully processed and released while 1.30 per cent have a few of their subjects still being processed.
The breakdown of the result showed that a total of 34, 664 representing 26.01 per cent candidates obtained minimum credits in five subjects and above including English Language and General Mathematics.
He also disclosed that 85.89 per cent obtained credits and above in two subjects, while 73. 94 per cent obtained credits and above in three subjects and 83, 256 obtained credits and above in four subjects.
Adenipekun added that the examination council had created the additional WASSCE for private candidates for 2018 which witnessed remarkable response from Prospective students.
